wRec’s debut EP ‘age’ spans four tracks exploring colorful composition and textured sounds using analogue and digital sound design. ‘age’ dives into the rubble and wreckage left after moments of overwhelming changes. Distorted drums, glossy plucks, whirring basslines depict a vivid epic inspired by the duo’s love for experimental dance music.

The EP opens with ‘Signal’ progressing slowly, swallowed by a creeping melodic bassline and erupting into a final crescendo. The catchy kick drum is interrupted by exponentially glistening strings breaking into rhythmic plucks swinging back and forth.

On ‘Recess’ garage inspired drums are commanded by a classic electro house bassline that opens up into an ecstatic breakdown. As a child-like voice counts down, ‘Recess’ flows between glitchy drums and squelchy synths with a determined yet curious attitude.

Before you know it, ‘Pendulum’ slaps you across the face with distorted vocals, a ritualistic rhythm and emphatic heavy bass. Lush strings hover above industrial distorted echoes, like everything on the surface seems fine while a submarine scrapes against hidden ocean floor wreckage below.

The fourth track ‘Shiver’ opens with atmospheric pads and melodic plucks that break into a dubstep rhythm. A piercing snare and harsh synth take us through the body of the track, exploding into a euphoric breakdown and leaving the EP on a shattered note.
